We spent two nights anchored in Little Alligator River, which gave us a day to just hang out on the boat which was nice.
The next day was very windy, gusting 20 to 25 knots, but in a great direction for us. So we pulled up anchor and rolled out a little genoa and sailed slowly out of the shallow anchorage (7 or 8 feet deep), and then back to the ICW channel. We put up more sail and had a really nice fast downwind sail across the Ablemarle Sound and then up North River.
We had plans to make it to Coinjock, but we decided to give an anchorage just before there a try. Although it was very windy there were no waves so it was comfortable, and we dropped anchor in 8 feet of water just off the ICW.
Nice sail today, and lots of wind for sailing up the channel at North River too, so that worked out well.
Tomorrow we'll continue on, maybe getting to Norfolk if things go well.
