Morehead City to Harbour Village Marina - day 114

Got up too early, and left the anchorage just after 6am. It was a windy morning, and typical of one of those days you don't want to pick up anchor and leave. But we need to keep moving and so against all odds (I'm not a morning person) we left super early.

Or goal for the day was a little marina down along the ICW at Harbour Village. However it is a long go, so we had a couple of anchorages lined up if we didn't end up making it that far.

But things went real smooth, and although it was largely a day of motoring and a bit of motor sailing, we made the long 50+NM day without any issue. Theone did the majority of the helming today, which was nice as I don't really enjoy motoring down these narrow channels much.

We saw some more dolphins, got passed by lots of nice looking boats, and made it in to the marina just before they closed at 4pm. The Harbour Village Marina was super helpful and got us all perfectly tied up at the fuel dock, pump out done, diesel top of done, water tanks topped off, and us checked in within about 10 or 15 minutes. Wonderful experience to get all of those things out of the way just like that. They had us just stay at the fuel dock for the night, which was very convenient to the facilities there. Nice showers as well which are always a nice thing to have. Also good fast wifi right at the dock. It was a quick stop, but it seemed like we got so much done.

There are no stores or provisioning nearby though, so that is the one downside, but they do mention that before you get there, and the price is super reasonable, so it's certainly worth the stop.

Nice solid sleep all safely tied up at the dock, all ready for the next day of travel.

Also, I'm not sure whats going on, but my GPX track from Navionics (android) for our trip reports 76.8NM for our trip today. It wasn't that far, more like 50ish NM. So I'm not sure whats going on there. I wonder if Navionics is always over reporting our distances (although we hadn't noticed that before)? Or maybe it has something to do with the nature of motoring through these channels vs sailing in directly lines on open water? I suppose it has something to do with measurement error, like the problem of measuring a coastline length. You have to choose the resolution you want to measure points from. Anyways, not sure how accurate my reported trip lengths are anymore!
