Potts Harbour to Maine Yacht Center in Portland - day 65

Light winds in the morning, but enough to sail slowly down wind, and it was a short go today. So we raised full main and weighed anchor and drifted out of the harbour. Another funny downwind run through a bunch of islands and cuts, but all went nicely. Got to see a bunch of fast boats sailing into the yacht club in Portland at the end of a race which was cool. Also a very impressive looking tall ship out there spectating the race it seemed.

It was a slow go, but we got in and found our way to our dock at the Maine Yacht Center. Very helpful dockhands met us and got us tied up. Our primary reason for coming to this marina was to get some supplies, primarily some 3M 4200 to rebed our front hatch. Unfortunately the marina shop was closed, however they did have a courtesy car available and so we took that and headed into town.

Just nearby was Hamilton Marine. I'd never head of it before, but wow, is that a big chandlery. The biggest I've ever seen and super well stocked. I checked off my entire list of boat supplies I had wanted, and we headed on our way for some groceries and then back to the boat.

The entire evening was spent re-bedding the hatch. These projects always take longer than expected, and by the time we removed, cleaned up all the butyl, super cleaned the surfaces, taped off everything, and then actually applied the 4200 and got it on there, it was past midnight. 4200 can be messy to work with, and with the size of the hatch that was certainly the case in this situation. But it came out looking pretty good, and I suspect we won't have to worry about it leaking now (knocking on wood as I type this).

We had booked two nights here which was good, as we were tired, and it's best to give that some time to cure before we head out as well. So the next day we went for a walk, got a couple geocaches, and had a nice dinner out for some Vietnamese which was super delicious. Stopped for ice cream and got to bed early for our long passage the next day.

I should also mention, the Maine Yacht Center is a lovely facility, gald we ended up stopping here as it all worked out perfectly.
