St. Marys to Cumberland Island - day 135

We decided to make a stop at Cumberland Island yet before leaving the area. So we finally pulled up anchor and motored the short 9NM sail from St. Marys to Cumberland Island. Or first anchor attempt was a bit too close to the sand bar, so we pulled up and anchored a little closer to the middle of the channel which was much more comfortable looking.

We got settled in at anchor and then took the dingy into the dock. Quick registration/payment online, and then we went about on a hike around the island. The Dungenuss ruins are really something to behold. We enjoyed a long hike around the island, seeing some wild horses, an armadillo paying no mind to us in search of insects in the leaves, and a long hike along the beach on the ocean side. It's always fun to see the ocean from land where you last sailed in from.

And that was largely it for the day. Weather is looking good for an outside passage down to St. Augustine which we will probably take tomorrow.
