Annapolis to Sheephead Cove - day 88

After our provisioning run yesterday it was time to finally get off the dock and continue on. It was a very gusty morning, and as usual one of those days you don't really want to leave the dock. All the whistling wind in the rigging and haylards slapping makes it seem like it must be crazy out there on the water. But as usual it wasn't nearly as bad as it sounded. Getting of the dock was more exciting than I hoped, it was a tight area and the wind likes to take take to boat where it wants. But we got turned around and in the right direction without hitting anything, which is ultimately the goal I guess.

After we got out, we decided to rig the gale sail, and in this case it was near a gale I think. We scooted downwind at 6 knots with just the gale sail, and then rounded up a bit towards our destination. Wind was a bit down after coming around and we floated along at 4 knots until we decided to motor the rest of the way up into the wind to the anchorage.

Super short hop today, only 13NM. We made our way as close to shore we could get to get some protection from the wind, and anchored up. Thankfully the anchor dug in right away, and we were well set on the hook by 14:00.

Nice to be in early, which was the point of choosing this close anchorage. Theone got to work on a Thanksgiving dinner, and Aria chatted with family back home.

We had a beautiful dinner on anchor, and just relaxed and enjoyed the evening.
