Camden - day 59, 60 and 61

We had a slow morning which was glorious as we were still recovering from our overnight sail. When we finally got moving we gave the boat a good tidy, finding places for all the goodies that Natascha and Kirsten brought us. Then we rowed to the marina to do laundry and take advantage of the lovely showers. By the time that was all done we headed over to the town side of the bay to check out Camden.

We called the girls to see what they were up to and were happy to accept an invite out to see the cottage and have some dinner. Loon Cottage was a truly special spot. It was wonderful to relax and catch up. Over dinner we made plans to meet up to go for a sail and a hike the next day.

The winds were beautiful so we decide to start the day with a sail in Penobscot Bay. We love getting to take family sailing and it was beautiful day to be out on the water. There were a lot of tall ships out taking people for sails on the Bay and they were a wonderful sight. It was easy to get a good shot of them with the new zoom lens that we ordered to replace the one that broke. We were hoping to see some dolphins but had to settle for a seal. When we got back from the sail we headed out to climb a mountain. We hiked about a mile pretty much straight up to the to of Mount Battie. There was some scrambling involved but we all made it in one piece. There was a fabulous view to Camden harbour from up there.

Our last full day in Camden we borrowed the car so that we could do a good provisioning run. We drove out to a place to get our propane tank filled. Then we did a huge grocery shop. It was a reminder of just how convenient and easy things are when you have a car. We had one last dinner at the cottage and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over Loon Pond. We had plans to leave in the morning but Aria wanted to stay at the cottage one last night so we saved our goodbyes for the morning.

It was a really lovely treat to get to spend time with family. Aria especially loved getting to have some Omi and Auntie time. One of the hard things about this trip is definitely having to leave behind all the people that we care about.
