We had a nice night at anchor, and woke up early to head across the sound. Winds were light to start, but made for an easy sail off anchor.
We were on a close hauled tack for most of the way with a perfect line to Staniel Cay, but shortly before making it all the way the winds clocked around rather quickly and put us off course. And as they often do on light wind days, they kind of just petered out into nothing.
So we had to put the motor on and I thought that might be a time to try some fishing. I purchased a proper lure back in Rock Sound so I was a bit hopeful, but nothing at all. Mid day is not exactly the ideal time either.
And just like that we were at Staniel Cay. We came in through the cut without any drama and motored by Staniel and around to Big Majors, which is a very large good holding anchorage. We dropped the hook beside our friends boat, and they very kindly had us over for a passage dinner which was a real treat.
Nice easy crossing and we are back in the Exumas for a few weeks again before we start heading north. We are looking forward to exploring some of the areas in the northern Exumas we skipped on the way down. Planning for some lazy time taking it slow for the next couple of weeks.
