Charlottetown to Caribou - day 30

After our busy day in Charlottetown, and after a large re-provisioning while we had a car, we set of from the yacht club in the morning after getting a top off of diesel. It was another one of those mornings that sounded ominous, but once you get out and get the sails up it all comes together. That seems to happen a lot lately for some reason. Either way the winds were nice, and we were sailing along really nicely with a double reefed main. Perfect tack angle to head out of the Charlottetown harbour and then down across to Caribou Nova Scotia where we planned to anchor in the protected bay where the ferry terminal is.

As we got about half way across the winds started to die down, so we shook out the reef, and then even got the spinnaker out for a bit as the wind ended up behind us and light. That only lasted for a short while until there wasn't enough wind to keep the spinnaker full, and so we motored the last little bit.

We ended up having to slow down near the channel into the bay to wait for the ferry. It's a very narrow channel, and the ferry is quite large, so best to just go through there after the ferry goes through and not while it goes through. Our timing worked well, and into the bay we went.

We anchored in a little spot just outside of the fishing wharf and pretty near the ferry terminal. The ferry doesn't run overnight, and doesn't seem to cause any wake when it comes in and out (moving slow enough I suppose). So this ended up being a very comfortable anchorage.
