It was an overcast day, and not much wind forecast overnight, so we decided to go and anchor for a night at the Statue Of Liberty, since we hadn't done that yet.
We came out of the marina, put up sails and did a short bit of sailing. But it was rather cold, so we decided to just head to the anchorage and get tucked in before it started raining. We sailed down and behind the lady, and dropped our sails and circled around to find a place to drop the hook. We just got the sail cover on and things put away when it did start to rain, so pretty good timing overall.
It's a pretty rolly anchorage back there, as you get wakes from the endless ferry's, tour ships, tug boats, and all manner of vessels out on the water. But the view is pretty amazing, especially at night.
Unfortunately we did have rain all through the night, but we managed to get some neat shots of the city at night under the dense rain clouds.
We'll weigh anchor in the morning and start heading north on the Hudson.
