Little Falls to Lock E-20 - day 334

We left little falls after getting some water and a pump out in the morning, and headed down the canal.

It was a bit of a short day, only 22NM. We maybe could have continued on but then it would have been a very long day as there didn't seem to be a whole lot of places to stop from there to Oneida Lake.

This part of the canal gets pretty shallow and we did touch bottom once through here. It only slightly slowed us down, and we were able to just push through the mud and continue on. There are also lots of dredgers in the channel along this section, as I guess it's a bit of an issue at certain sections.

After coming through lock E-20 we are also at the highest elevation in the canal at 420 feet above sea level. From here on out we are going downhill back to Lake Ontario at 245 feet above sea level.

At E-20 Theone and I did some hiking along the canal, and it is neat how the canal is actually higher than the surrounding lands. It's kind built up so that this channel can exist up here. On another note, this is also the worst mosquitoes we've had on this entire trip. Not necessarily worse than some places at home, but the worst we've had on this trip so far I think.

Tomorrow is Theone's birthday and we are planning to stop Sylvan Beach on Oneida Lake.
