Manjack Cay to Powell Cay to Cooperstown - day 266 to 268

Had a nice couple of nights at Manjack Cay. Met up with Bluemoon and got to see their Guineapig setup on their boat (they have two Guineapigs onboard), which was actually quite brillant. I couldn't picture it before seeing it, but it works quite well.

They are heading back to Maine and so on a similar path to ours, but spending more time in the southern US, so we probably won't be seeing them much after this unfortunatley. But Aria did go paddle boarding with them through the mangroves in the afternoon, and we spent the following day with them at Powell Cay which was lovely.

We got ashore and toured the art trail on Manjack Cay which was very neat, we do love these art trails in the Bahamas. They also had a few palms growning coconuts, and a few tools laying around so people could try their hand at opening a coconut (not particularly easy). We'd had a little experience with this just a few days ago, but it's much easier (although more dangerous) with a machette which they happen to have there. I did manage to get a coconut down and husk it, although it took me a fair amount of time.

The next morning Theone paddled me around the mangroves in the morning while it was nice and calm. Tons of turtles and a wonderful little paddle. Even found an old trimaran tided up way back in the mangroves.

After breakfast we set out to Powell Cay just the next island down. A short but great sail in calm winds. We anchored up there with Bluemoon, the only two boats there that day, and went ashore. We did a hike to the ocean side of the Cay, and spent some time swimming on the beach. There was a neat little wreck to snorkle just right along the beach too.

We also got introduced to the world of sea beans. Something we knew nothing about, but they found one on the beach and gave it to us, and now we have yet another thing to keep an eye out for on the beach.

Bluemoon has a drone and got some footage of the island and our two boats at anchor. I'll put it here, it's a super neat view of the area we are in. We are as always the tiny boat :)

Thanks to Bluemoon for taking and sending us this footage!

We only spent the day at Powell, and in the evening we slowly sailed across the channel to the other side to anchor up in front of Cooperstown. The winds were predicted to come around from the south (with some rain) and so this offered better protection. It was a funny night as we got a lot of smoke from the fire when the wind switched around, and a lot of thumping bass from Cooperstown. It is Friday night though, and it seems like everywhere in the Bahamas is pretty happening on Friday night. It did get pretty rolly overnight too.

I was exhausted though, and dispite the thumping bass, smokey air, and rolly anchorage I slept like a baby.
