Oswego Lock O-1 to Oswego Lock O-7 - day 338

We left in the morning and started our transit down the Oswego locks towards Oswego. Things went well enought, but we were locking the whole day with a group of 5 other boats, and we were always last in line, so it was a bit of a tricky tie up in the locks as we didn't have the usual two lines to hold on to, and we had to loop cables or sometimes stairs, just fitting into the lock with our long mast overhang. It might have also been the heat, but at times it seemed like nothing was going smoothly, but we did make it just fine in the end.

When we got down to the last lock, we pulled off an tied up at the free wall between lock E-7 and E-8. It's a really beautiful spot. Theone and I went for a nice long walk on a foot trail all the way down to Fort Ontario, and took in the view of Lake Ontario from the cliffs. I do have to say it that it feels pretty good to be back on the lake again. That fresh cool breese coming off the lake is very inviting.

It was a long day, only 18NM but 6 locks. We had a nice pasta dinner, and we really started wrapping our heads around the fact that we are going to be home soon. It's seemed like such a distant thing for so long, but now it seems close. It's very exciting, but it also means the end of the trip. It's an interesting mix of emotions.

The schedule now is tomorrow we'll lock through E-8 (the final lock!) and then go into the Oswego Marina. Showers will be had, and we'll prep the mast and boat to be ready to step the mast Monday morning (the next day). Monday we'll have the full day to tune the rig, bend on the sails and get ready to be a sailing vessel once more. Tuesday's weather window is holding up really nice, and if that continues we'll cross the lake home to Bath on Tuesday.
