Poughkeepsie to Kingston, NY - day 320 and 321

We spent an extra day at anchor in Poughkeepsie as we aren't in any rush, still waiting on news about the Erie Canal opening.

During our day in Poughkeepsie, Theone rowed Aria and I ashore and we went for a hike around the area while Theone enjoyed some alone time on the boat (we don't get much of this so it's always a treat). Poughkeepsie has an old train bridge coverted into a park with a very long footpath over the old bridge crossing the Hudson. We hiked up the hill, has some lunch then hiked the bridge to the other side. The bridge has a elevator that brought us back down to the water and we hiked over to the car bridge to cross back over. The car bridge has a music installation on it, with music made from brdiges by a local artists. It's quite neat and we spent some time hanging out on the bridge listening and enjoying the view.

After that we did a bit of hiking in the park near where we are anchored, and found a couple of geocaches. After that we headed back to the boat and were back in time for dinner.

We had a nice evening, and enjoyed the view of the bridge all lit up at night.

The next day we raised anchor just after our buddy boat Mr Turtle passed us heading to Kingston, NY. We raised sails and sailed off anchor and under the two bridges heading north. It was a nice short 20NM sail, and once we got there we picked up a dock at the Kingston Maritime Museum which has a nice little dock, and with your mooring fees you get free entrance to the Museum which is fun.

We got all tied up, and went to the Museum. Lots of neat information about the Erie Canal, and lots of regional history. They also had a rather large sailing ice boat on display which was neat to see.

After the museum we went out and had a lovely dinner at a mexican restaurant. Kingston, NY is a pretty cool looking town and we kind of wish we had a bit more time here, but we've already booked a slip at Hop-O-Nose in Catskill to take down our mast so tomorrow we'll head there.
