We left pretty early from Indian Point, and sailed off anchor in very light winds. We didn't make it more than a nautical mile before the wind died out completely (such a tease) and we ended up having to motor. The wind did pick back up about half way through and so we got to sail the last half of the way which was quite nice as the wind filled in.
This was a particularly beautiful part of the Hudson, the narrow spots around West Point Military Academy were quite beautiful. It was a very scenic sail overall.
We decided to anchor on the west side of the Hudson sort of across from Poughkeepsie, as we'd have excellent protection there with quite a large hill protecting the anchorage. It took a couple tries to set the anchor, it's a bit of a tricky spot as it's deep but then shallows up quite quickly. But we got set, and enjoyed a nice evening of watching trains and paddling around the boat.
Nice short day with only a 28NM sail.
