After a very long night and very little sleep, it was time to get out of this anchorage. It wasn't all that bad in the morning as the winds had calmed down some, but it was nice to get underway.
We motored out through the north end of Reedy Island and into the C&D Canal heading over towards Chesapeake Bay. We were pretty low on fuel from our passage as we hadn't fuelled up since Sandwich and motored all through New York and a fair bit when we were without wind on the passage down from New York to here. So we stopped at Schaefer's Marina in Chesapeak City which is a very convenient fuel dock and stop along the Canal. Nice short hop, only a 15 NM motor down the canal from our anchorage.
We were welcomed at the fuel dock, by some very helpful hands, and got a diesel top up, and a slip for the night. They got us tied up at the floating dock and it was nice to be secure after the night before. Great restaurant on site, so we had dinner at the Schaefer's Canal House, and it was nice to kick back and relax a bit. Aria got to try her roller skates we got in New York some more.
No showers at this stop, but very well priced and well worth the stop. A fellow boat named Perfect Lefty stopped as well, and was the other boat anchored with us at Reedy Island the night before. He was also happy to be out of that anchorage as he was getting pulled all over the place as well and hadn't got much sleep. Makes us feel a little better that it wasn't just us!
