We booked a couple of days at Hudson Point Marina, and have decided to move over there and see what it's like. It's a lot more expensive than being on a mooring ball, but there are a lot of nice things about being on a dock.
We left the mooring ball around 11am, waiting for the tide to come up a bit. We saw some really shallow water coming into Sheepshead Bay, but I think we made a better track on the way out and we didn't see anything less than 8 feet or so at about 1.5 feet above low tide. I think we just went a little too far away from the green buoy on our way in which would have put us aground at low tide. I was a bit worried about that on the way out, but all was fine, and glad to have that behind us now.
It was very windy, probably gusting into the 30's, and the wind was on the nose so we just motored up towards Jersey City where the marina is. It was a bit of a wet ride because of the wind, but nothing too crazy. As expected a lot of traffic through!
We stopped at Liberty Landing Marina and got a fuel top off and a pump out. Hudson Point Marina is just across from there, and we headed in. It's a tight space, but the marina is very nice and someone met us on the dock to help us get tied up. This is a really great spot, entirely protected by large buildings. It felt like there was no wind once we got onto the dock, which is a real difference from the wind we had out there on the way up.
I think we'll likely spend more than just a couple of days here, as this is looking like a very nice spot.
