It was time to leave the dock again and head out. We untied the lines, and put the boat into forward and realized we weren't moving. Turns out at low tide we were sitting in the mud with our keel at the dock. Ended up getting pulled off the dock with the help of someone working on a boat nearby. Headed to the fuel dock for a pump out, and then we were on our way.
No wind day, and so we motored out to the bay watching the helicopters and planes at NAS Pax River (military base). We did find some wind as we got out on the bay, and were able to sail about half way down to the Potomac River where we had planned to anchor.
After we rounded into the river, our engine overheat alarm went off. I quickly took a peak at the engine, thinking it might be a false alarm as we had a few times before we left (likely a wiring problem that we never completely found, but did seem to fix by going over all the connections). But in this case it wasn't. There was coolant everywhere and the engine was indeed hot! We stopped things and Theone sailed downwind on the main sail while I cleaned up the engine and tried to figure out the problem. It was hard to determine because there was coolant all over the place, but after adding some more coolant and starting the engine it was pretty obvious as it was squirting out of the pipe fitting at the top of the engine (again). This is the same fitting I was having problems leaking before. I pushed the ring seal back in and situated the pipe the best I could and that solved the leaking. I think this pipe seems to loosen itself off with all the engine vibration (this 2 cylinder looks like a paint shaker when it's running). I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I am sick of cleaning up coolant when this happens.
We got into anchor just fine after that, and were welcomed to a very beautiful little bay. We launched the dingy and Aria went to the beach while I cleaned up, and Theone made dinner. I think it only went down to 14C tonight which is nice, and a beautiful clear evening. I love sitting out at night, but haven't done much of that this trip as it's mostly been too cold where we've been.
This will also likely be our last stop in Maryland. The other side of the Potomac River is Virginia... Maryland has been wonderful but also looking forward to heading further south!
