Left Vallyfield marina at 8am and motored out and down the channel to the lifting bridges before Beauharnois. Got there at 9am for the lifting time, but it seems like they were running a bit late and opened 10 or 15 minutes after 9. The next bridge opened at 10am, and it was a ways down the channel. We assumed it might open a bit late as well, but it didn't and opened well ahead of when we got there. But it stayed open and it was no problem for us to get through, although always a bit nerve racking to be motoring towards a bridge that might start closing.
After that it was on to the locks where we got to and then idled around for 10 or 15 minutes. We rafted up with another boat that was also heading down the St Lawrence to the Gaspe Bay, and transited down the two Beauharnois Locks. The weather held out nice for us, and the transit through the locks was nice and easy. We had some weather approaching in the afternoon, with a squall watch in effect. Winds started picking up as we came out of the locks, but nothing too bad.
Our destination was the Point-Claire Yacht Club. To get there we had to transit through a narrow and shallow channel which is always a little nerve racking, but we took it slow and it ended up being no problem. After a little bit of excitement coming into port, we got onto the dock and safely moored up. Theone's Aunt and Uncle who arranged our stay here met us on the dock, and helped us get situated. We had a wonderful dinner at their place (thanks!) and then got some much needed sleep. It wasn't a particular hard or long day, but we were all pretty tired and slept well.
Getting to stay at the yacht club is a real treat for us. Timing was perfect both personally and weather wise, and we've got a couple of nights here to relax. We've been pushing pretty hard to get some miles under the keel, so it's nice to stop and take a breather.
