finally leaving the dock - day 1

We are finally off! After missing all our deadlines, July 7th originally, with a backup plan of July 15th at the latest, we finally managed to get off the dock today, July 19th.

It's been a chaotic few weeks, completing the dingy build, getting all the last minute projects on the boat complete, etc. I've read that you are never really ready to leave, and I guess that is exactly what this has been for us, but eventualy you do just have to go.

Ultimately the boat is in good working order, so everything is fine, it's just all the little things you'd like to have had completed before you go, but time is always in short supply.

We had of course planned to leave early today, but by the time we finished the last minute projects, secured the dingy on deck in a reasonable manner, and got under way it was already past 5. The winds were super nice though and we had a great downwind run to Simcoe Island, where we easily anchored up even before sunset! Did some swimming had a great meal (we are very well provisioned right now), and we'll push for a full day of sailing tomorrow.
