Parrot Cays to Orchid Bay Marina - day 251

After not being able to get a mooring ball in Hope Town, we decided to book a stay at Orchid Bay Marina on Great Guana Cay nearby. We've been on the go a lot lately and we were looking for some down time. Also there was a fair bit of wind on the way and it would be nice to be tied up to a dock.

We also discovered this is the first dock we have tied up to since leaving the US in December. Which we realized when it took us such a long time to find our dock lines in the very pit of our cockpit locker.

We sailed off anchor from Parrot Cay and made our way out of the shallow waters and headed towards Great Guana Cay. We took a little stop at Foul Cay on the way which was fun. We just sailed in and anchored on sail, did some swimming in the crystal clear waters, and then sailed off anchor.

It had been a while since I've had to navigate into a dock, but it all went pretty smooth and we got backed into our slip. I think this is the first fixed slip we've ever been in and it took a while to get all the lines sorted out. Made more difficult as the slip is for much larger boats and so our 30 foot boat kind of doesn't line up with any of the tie up places. We looked a little awkward in there but it was nice to plug into shore power and have power and water at the dock. Also showers, a major treat. Unfortunately the pool at the marina was gone from the last hurricane, but showers are enough to keep us happy these days.

We are going to spend a few days here, catch up on some work, do taxes, and just enjoy some downtime.
